Suru is created in a tech lab.
They try to upload her human-like emotions, to make her seem genuinely
happier doing the tasks of a service robot. But something goes wrong.
She also begins to understand the cruelty and evil of the world and is permanently damaged by the process, so they decide to shut her down. Fortunately, Suru manages to send
an emergency message to the web, before they turn her off.

Suru and a pile of other decommissioned androids are dumped into a landfill. She can only hope that one day someone will come and save her. A gamer comes across a hidden message, including some encrypted coordinates and instructions in an online game and begins to solve the mystery. He eventually hacks into Suru's system, finds out her location, and sets out on a dangerous adventure. Once there, the sight is heartbreaking...

The boy fixes Suru through the evenings and nights, but he must leave for work when the sun rises. When he returns, he's often faced with some oddities. So what is going on?
Suru's battery has begun to charge again. She wakes up during the days, when the sun hits her cell. She starts to repairs herself, and eventually begins to fix the house as well. But without a new cell, her battery won’t last until the evening, so Suru and the boy haven't yet met. However, Suru is not alone during the days: She's companied by the boy's whacky cat. Suru's system is a bit confused by its appearance and suggests that it's called Music. Could it be Suru's new BAE?

Suru is finally done repairing herself. The boy comes home and is surprised to see Suru awake. Suru is as surprised as the boy. The boy politely introduces himself
as Ion, the owner of the house. But Suru is not quite sure how to reply. She knows her name is Suru, but now she’s separated from the nest and on stand alone mode. She's been trying to contact it, but her signals don't seem to be getting through. She can't see or feel its presence anymore, it feels as if a part of her is gone.
So the big question is: "Who am I?"

They visit Tokyo and karaoke bars, New York and the giant Manhattan Billboards, Paris cafés, and sweet little boutiques and perfume shops. Then they head to Peru and the Machu Picchu, Egypt and
the pyramids and every place he can think of.
Suru is a bit confused.
She had thought there would be something more to it. So this is the world, right? - but surely only from a browser. Now she want's to experience them all in real life!

Suru is now ready to face the outside world. She enters the front garden: Orrises, May roses, a giant apple tree, a huge sky, and the birds. Every tiny detail is new and exciting to Suru. And the scent is intoxicating! She saw some of the flowers earlier in an online store ad. The house, the cat, and especially Ion (the boy who saved her) have somehow started to feel like home. What is this strange feeling? Should she stay here a little longer?
